Frequently Asked Questions Are you a new company? How come I have never seen you advertise in the past? Most often when we are called to someone’s home or restaurant for a new project, it is as a result of having seen our work at some other location and approved of what work was seen enough to want some of our artwork also. By doing almost no advertising these twenty years past almost all of our work has been by recommendation or as they say, ‘word of mouth’. Still the first thing when meeting a new client is to give them confidence by presenting a photo-portfolio of previous works, our “showroom”. What happens during the initial consultation? This is a time when I delight to answer any questions and point out details in the photos that are sometimes misunderstood. For example, it is not unusual for people to be apprehensive about doing ornamental glass work because they think it requires removal and replacement of the existing window. This is not the case. Most windows are thermo pane, or insulated glass. Our windows are neatly installed on the interior of the existing window in such a way that will not detract from the beauty of the home or the artwork. The exception is in the installation of garage door windows, which are quite popular. Garage windows tend to be single pane and for the practical beauty and so as not to add extra weight, garage windows are usually replaced. You created a piece for me several years ago and I'd like to have it modified or repaired. Can you do this for me? We have learned better methods and improved techniques over the years and I am happy to make upgrades and any improvements desired on previous projects. We often are called on again by the same home to create something else, and I am well pleased to see a window or lampshade that was created and installed maybe fifteen years ago and looking beautiful as ever. There have been many a fine project that has escaped being photographed or the photos might have been much better. I think some time to go back and obtain better photos, but there is usually just the thought. Do you teach classes? I have not learned this art from a class or classes, nor from a book, but having experienced the joy of working with many types of creative mediums, I have found this type of glass work to be singularly exciting, and as I like to say yielding the most satisfaction per square inch. I am willing to teach what I have learned in a one to one situation, making the point that patience is the main ingredient. Having been inspired by the work of Tiffany, I as they say, jumped off the deep end. Beginning with original and complicated designs and always trying to make a grand impression, it really dawned on me slowly that Tiffany was not a husband and wife team. Much humor, but twenty years later it is a wonderful family business. Your windows are beautiful, but can you make me something I can use? There is a fascinating field full of functional art! We enjoy making portable and stationary screens, room dividers and glass curtains. These can provide privacy as well elegance, or perhaps just a pleasant change from what is on the other side of the window. There are screens for fireplace decorations, and sun screens that definitely won’t fade or wash off when you go swimming... There are beautiful dishes, bowls, baskets, boxes, desk sets and trays, cups, cases, candleholders and vases. Galleries of glorious gifts! Picture and announcement frames, work that can be done from photographs. Pets, Animals, Automobiles, Trains and Planes and Houses, all in 2-D or 3-D, globes and freestanding sculptures. There are business and organization logos. corporate, club and community commemorations, personalized and lasting recognition for sport accomplishments, and trophies for other events. All kinds of beautiful lettering for nameplates and signs. We also make delightful mobiles, music boxes, kaleidoscopes, and on and on... We don’t want to brag, but it is nice to have the opportunity to show off a bit! I don't see any prices on the site, how is your work priced? There is often the question of price on commissioned work, and the cost is dependent on the size of the piece, the complexity of the design, the number of individual pieces of glass, or cuts, as it is sometimes called, and the cost of the various materials or components that might be chosen. I am fond of saying that the door swings both ways. One can say, “This is what is desired, what will it cost?” or, “This is what I want to spend, what can you do for that price?” What we can say for sure is that we give a great value to $ ratio. Can you make a .......? Put our creativity to the test and enjoy the time you spend with us at CLASS CREATIONS. |
